Offices for Dutch birth, marriage and death certificates

Pick the city where the event was registered

A certificate can only be issued by the municipality that registered the birth, marriage, partnership or death, and moving to another city later does not change that. Requests may go in online with DigiD, by post or at the counter, depending on the office, and the document reaches you in different ways. A valid ID is required.

    Publiekslocatie Centrum — Gemeente Rotterdam

    Coolsingel 40, 3011 AD Rotterdam

Apply online with DigiD or by post and allow a few weeks, as the certificate cannot be collected at a counter.

For post, send the application form, copy of accepted valid ID and any required authorisation to Gemeente Rotterdam, Burgerlijke Stand, Postbus 70013, 3000 KR Rotterdam. Check the record location before paying. Ask whether a full copy or international extract is needed; registered-partnership records do not have a multilingual extract. Historical records may instead be held by the city archive.
