Offices for Dutch birth, marriage and death certificates

Pick the city where the event was registered

A certificate can only be issued by the municipality that registered the birth, marriage, partnership or death, and moving to another city later does not change that. Requests may go in online with DigiD, by post or at the counter, depending on the office, and the document reaches you in different ways. A valid ID is required.

Choose either DigiD, with delivery by post in about five working days, or the counter for immediate issue, not both.

Bring valid ID and card or cash, with card preferred. For another person bring their signed authority and valid ID copy plus your own ID. Confirm event location and document format before ordering. Ask about a language or overseas-use requirement rather than assuming the standard copy meets it.
