Offices for Dutch birth, marriage and death certificates

Pick the city where the event was registered

A certificate can only be issued by the municipality that registered the birth, marriage, partnership or death, and moving to another city later does not change that. Requests may go in online with DigiD, by post or at the counter, depending on the office, and the document reaches you in different ways. A valid ID is required.

Apply with DigiD for yourself or your child, or book an appointment if you apply for someone else or lack DigiD.

Check whether the receiving organisation needs an extract or the full certified copy, and verify the correct municipality before paying: an unsuccessful request is not refunded. Bring valid ID to the appointment. A representative must also bring written consent and a copy of the subject’s ID.
