Offices for Dutch birth, marriage and death certificates

Pick the city where the event was registered

A certificate can only be issued by the municipality that registered the birth, marriage, partnership or death, and moving to another city later does not change that. Requests may go in online with DigiD, by post or at the counter, depending on the office, and the document reaches you in different ways. A valid ID is required.

  • Groningen

Gemeente Groningen – Loket Centrum (Burgerzaken en RNI)

    Kreupelstraat 1, 9712 HW Groningen

Apply to Groningen only for records made there, with a separate application for each record.

For a postal request provide the event date or year, purpose, name and address, signature, ID copy and BSN (citizen service number). A representative sends signed authorization and valid ID copies for both people through the official contact form. International certificates are offered in English, German, Spanish, French, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish and Serbo-Croatian; registered-partnership versions are limited to English, German and French. Check the recipient’s format and legalization requirements. An unnecessary or wrong request is not refunded.
