Where to deregister in the Netherlands before you leave

Your own municipality takes your departure, so start with your city

You deregister from the municipality where you currently live, so pick that city. Each office shows whether a whole household can report online or everyone has to come in person, whether it can give a certificate of deregistration, and what to bring, such as ID for everyone who is leaving.

    Publiekslocatie Centrum — Gemeente Rotterdam

    Coolsingel 40, 3011 AD Rotterdam

Report online with DigiD, by post or by email up to 28 days before you leave, and the certificate comes by email.

For post/email, send the completed departure form and a copy of your passport, Dutch ID card or residence document. Send to Gemeente Rotterdam, Antwoordnummer 1790, 3000 VB Rotterdam, or [email protected]. Give the foreign address as fully as possible, or at least the country. Same-address partner, child or parent reports are permitted under the municipality’s conditions; partners with a cohabitation contract report separately.
