Where to deregister in the Netherlands before you leave

Your own municipality takes your departure, so start with your city

You deregister from the municipality where you currently live, so pick that city. Each office shows whether a whole household can report online or everyone has to come in person, whether it can give a certificate of deregistration, and what to bring, such as ID for everyone who is leaving.

Report with DigiD or phone for an appointment, and everyone leaving must come in if anyone stays at the address.

Prepare names and dates of birth for yourself and accompanying family, old address, destination country, new address and departure date. A written report must be signed and accompanied by ID evidence. Ask whether any departing children must attend and what documents they need. A counter departure confirmation is available free on the deregistration day; later proof is requested from an RNI (register for non-residents) service, not your former resident municipality.
