Where to deregister in the Netherlands before you leave

Your own municipality takes your departure, so start with your city

You deregister from the municipality where you currently live, so pick that city. Each office shows whether a whole household can report online or everyone has to come in person, whether it can give a certificate of deregistration, and what to bring, such as ID for everyone who is leaving.

    Stadsloket Zuidoost

Anton de Komplein 150, 1102 CW Amsterdam

Walk in without an appointment from four weeks before you leave, and bring ID for every family member.

Have the departure date, current address and foreign address ready. Postal reporting is available when the whole family leaves together: use a signed letter with names and birth dates and the required identity copies. A cohabiting partner who is neither your spouse nor your registered partner must also sign and supply an identity copy. For a late postal report, the city uses the date it receives the letter as the moving date.
