Offices for reporting a move in the Netherlands

See which online and counter options your city offers

The municipality you move to is the one that needs to hear about it, and each one has its own routine. Some take reports online with DigiD, some only at the counter and some both, and all of them ask for ID and proof of your new home.

Tell the city you have moved with DigiD, by post, or after phoning to book a counter appointment.

For written or counter notification prepare copies of valid ID and the rental or purchase contract. Moving in with someone also requires their written consent and a copy of the owner or main resident’s ID. If you have no residential address, ask about the separate briefadres procedure rather than registering a fictitious home.
