Offices for reporting a move in the Netherlands

See which online and counter options your city offers

The municipality you move to is the one that needs to hear about it, and each one has its own routine. Some take reports online with DigiD, some only at the counter and some both, and all of them ask for ID and proof of your new home.

Report with DigiD, walk in on weekday mornings and be ready to wait, or phone for an appointment.

Prepare the signed final rental contract or purchase/transfer deed. Moving in with someone requires the main resident’s signed consent and ID copy. Married or registered partners can report for each other; unmarried partners each use their own DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites). A parent can include a child moving with them. Check your parking permit separately.
