Offices for reporting a move in the Netherlands

See which online and counter options your city offers

The municipality you move to is the one that needs to hear about it, and each one has its own routine. Some take reports online with DigiD, some only at the counter and some both, and all of them ask for ID and proof of your new home.

Report your move within five days, since a late report counts from the day it arrives and may affect your benefits.

Have your actual move date, new address and valid identity evidence ready. Ask which housing or co-resident-consent documents are required; there is no full local checklist. Some public services receive your address update, but banks and other commercial organizations must be told separately. A disability parking card, stairlift or other local provision does not automatically transfer to a new municipality.
