Offices for reporting a move in the Netherlands

See which online and counter options your city offers

The municipality you move to is the one that needs to hear about it, and each one has its own routine. Some take reports online with DigiD, some only at the counter and some both, and all of them ask for ID and proof of your new home.

Online reports normally take about three working days, while a foster child’s move has to be handled at the counter.

Upload the rental contract, or purchase-contract pages with personal details, new address, start date and both signatures. When lodging, include signed main-resident consent and their ID copy, even when an adult child moves back to a parent. Bring these documents for a counter request.
