Offices that issue the Belgian identity card

Apply where you live and collect the card in the same place

Applications go to the municipality where you are registered, so the office depends on your address. Towns take bookings online, by phone or at the counter, and some give each family member a separate slot. When the card is ready you collect it in person, and the PIN letter arrives by post.

Cité administrative – Département de la Citoyenneté

Place Communale 1, 7100 La Louvière

Book online or by phone, as identity cards need an appointment even though some other services take walk-ins.

Bring the old card and a recent white-background identity photo, under six months old and meeting the linked photo rules. Keep the PIN/PUK codes for activation and later use. A recovered card reported lost or stolen must be returned, not used again. Check the fee for renewal, loss or urgent issue.
