Offices that issue the Belgian identity card

Apply where you live and collect the card in the same place

Applications go to the municipality where you are registered, so the office depends on your address. Towns take bookings online, by phone or at the counter, and some give each family member a separate slot. When the card is ready you collect it in person, and the PIN letter arrives by post.

Walk in or book, but check your card's expiry date first, as some renewal invitations were sent in error.

Bring your previous identity card, even if expired, and a compliant photo taken within six months. If you have no recent photo, the city can take one at the counter. Bring the PIN letter for collection and confirm additional requirements for a medically authorised representative.
