Offices that issue the Belgian identity card

Apply where you live and collect the card in the same place

Applications go to the municipality where you are registered, so the office depends on your address. Towns take bookings online, by phone or at the counter, and some give each family member a separate slot. When the card is ready you collect it in person, and the PIN letter arrives by post.

    Woodrow Wilsonplein 1, 9000 Ghent

Book your application, then collect the card without an appointment within three months.

Bring your current identity card or replacement certificate; for a first card, bring the Kids-ID. Staff take the photo at the counter. For collection bring the old card or replacement certificate and the PIN letter. Medical inability to provide fingerprints requires a doctor’s certificate no older than one month. Start a replacement yourself after loss, damage, changed personal details or an outdated photo; do not wait for an expiry invitation.
