Offices that issue the Belgian identity card

Apply where you live and collect the card in the same place

Applications go to the municipality where you are registered, so the office depends on your address. Towns take bookings online, by phone or at the counter, and some give each family member a separate slot. When the card is ready you collect it in person, and the PIN letter arrives by post.

Phone the town hall to arrange your visit, then collect the new card once the activation codes arrive by post.

Bring your current card, or a loss/theft/destruction certificate or other reliable identity document, and the invitation if received. If bringing your own photo, use a compliant one taken within six months. Keep the postal activation codes for collection.
