Offices that issue the Belgian identity card

Apply where you live and collect the card in the same place

Applications go to the municipality where you are registered, so the office depends on your address. Towns take bookings online, by phone or at the counter, and some give each family member a separate slot. When the card is ready you collect it in person, and the PIN letter arrives by post.

Book an appointment to apply, then bring your PIN letter when you collect the card, with or without a booking.

Bring the invitation and current card, or the replacement certificate after loss or theft. Aalst can take the photo free at the counter; an optional photo you bring must meet the requirements and be no more than six months old. Bring the old card and PIN letter for collection.
