Where to apply for social assistance in the Netherlands

Applications go to the municipality where you live

Each municipality sets its own first step. In some places you apply online with DigiD, in others you phone first, which can fix your application date, or sign up on werk.nl before an adviser contacts you. Offices also have their own help for people who find the form hard, and their own list of what to prepare.

    Lübeckplein 2, 8017 JZ Zwolle

Walk in without an appointment to pick up benefit forms or hand in documents for the city’s income support team.

Identify the benefit or reimbursement you are asking about and bring the documents requested by the department, with a case reference if you have one. Ask how to document submission and what still needs to be supplied. Do not assume handing in one document completes an application or guarantees payment. Confirm a separate interview if the team says one is needed.
