Where to apply for social assistance in the Netherlands

Applications go to the municipality where you live

Each municipality sets its own first step. In some places you apply online with DigiD, in others you phone first, which can fix your application date, or sign up on werk.nl before an adviser contacts you. Offices also have their own help for people who find the form hard, and their own list of what to prepare.

    Koningsplein 10, 5038 WG Tilburg

Apply through werk.nl with DigiD, then book the intake interview with the work and income team within two working days.

Prepare identity evidence, PDF statements for all current and savings accounts covering the last three months, and income evidence for the same period. Photos of bank statements are insufficient. Follow the individual evidence deadline in the letter after intake. If awaiting DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites), call Werk & Inkomen so it can record your notification date.
