Where to apply for social assistance in the Netherlands

Applications go to the municipality where you live

Each municipality sets its own first step. In some places you apply online with DigiD, in others you phone first, which can fix your application date, or sign up on werk.nl before an adviser contacts you. Offices also have their own help for people who find the form hard, and their own list of what to prepare.

  • Maastricht

Sociale Zaken Maastricht Heuvelland — Randwycksingel

    Randwycksingel 22, 6229 EE Maastricht

Apply online through werk.nl with DigiD, and a city consultant will call you within five working days.

Have DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) ready for werk.nl and follow the application’s requested evidence; a complete document checklist is not available. Be ready to explain income, savings and other assets, debts and household composition. Save your application confirmation and respond to further requests. Ask the counter if you need help accessing the process. A contact message or appointment request does not itself complete the werk.nl benefit application.
