Civil registry offices for certificates in Belgium

Each town sets its own routine for extracts and copies

Each municipality runs its own civil registry counter. Some take online orders, others only booked visits.

    Gemeente Kontich — Burgerzaken

    Gemeenteplein 1, 2550 Kontich

Book a visit or apply online for an extract with current details or a full copy that shows the record’s history.

Bring valid identity or residence documentation. A representative needs their own ID, authorisation and the person’s ID copy; supply legitimate-interest evidence when required. Have the full name and birth details ready, and ask the receiving authority which format it needs. Foreign use may require an apostille, legalisation or translation depending on the destination; confirm the current fee and exemptions rather than assuming certification is always required. If your document needs an FPS Foreign Affairs legalisation or apostille, the federal fee has been €25 per legalisation or apostille since 1 August 2026. This is separate from any municipal certificate fee; check whether your document and destination actually require it.
