Where to report a change of address in Belgium

Choose the city you moved to, not the one you left

A move is reported to the municipality you are moving to, and each one has its own routine: some take the report online or at a kiosk, others through a district office or by appointment. Afterwards you are asked to come in so your ID or residence card can be updated.

    Dienst Burgerzaken – Verhuizen

    Woodrow Wilsonplein 1, 9000 Ghent

Report your move online, then update your cards without an appointment once the city confirms your registration.

Prepare identity or residence documents, national-register numbers, names and birth dates for everyone moving, the new address, contact details and times you are usually available for a police visit. Bring the relevant identity/residence cards and children’s Kids-ID cards with each PIN for the update. For case-specific questions call the moving department on +32 9 266 72 00. Moving alone does not automatically end legal cohabitation.
