Help with an unemployment benefit claim in the Netherlands

Local advice desks exist only in some cities

The claim itself goes to UWV online, but a few cities have a desk or neighbourhood team where you can talk it through face to face. Some hold weekly walk-in sessions, others ask you to request a conversation first. Bring papers such as your last payslip and employment contract.

Have your most recent payslip, employment contract, bank account number and first unemployment date ready, as UWV (Dutch employee insurance agency) requests these for the claim. Bring relevant letters or questions to the support meeting. Mijn UWV accepts DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) or a recognised European electronic ID. Apply from one week before the first unemployment day and no later than one week afterwards; arranging a support appointment does not submit the claim or extend its deadline.
