Renewals and replacements are handled by your own municipality. Online renewal, booking a visit to apply, the photo you need and the way you collect the new licence can all differ from one municipality to the next.

    For a counter application, bring your old licence and a compliant colour photo no older than six months. Obtain any required CBR (Dutch driving test and medical fitness assessor) health clearance first. Pay by debit card; the ordinary fee is €53.65. Bring your old licence to exchange at collection, or valid passport/ID if it is unavailable. Urgent counter processing costs extra and does not secure an earlier appointment.
