Renewals and replacements are handled by your own municipality. Online renewal, booking a visit to apply, the photo you need and the way you collect the new licence can all differ from one municipality to the next.

    For the counter bring your old licence, a compliant colour photo under six months old and any required health declaration. Online renewal requires an eligible Dutch licence, BRP (Dutch population register) registration, DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) with ID check and an application code from an RDW-approved photographer or booth. A lost or reported-stolen licence cannot use this online process. Bring your old licence for collection within three months.
