Offices that help you find work in the Netherlands

Compare UWV and municipal job centres in your city

Some cities have a UWV Werkplein where you can walk in on weekdays, while others see people only by appointment or point you to a municipal job centre. Whether you should call or book first, and what to bring, depends on the office.

    Wognumsebuurt 2, 1817 BH Alkmaar

Walk in on weekdays with job-search questions, or phone ahead if you would rather arrange a visit.

Bring a valid identity document, your work and education history, an available CV and the letter or question you need help with. Your own DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) is used for Werkmap; keep passwords and verification codes private. For a benefit-application appointment UWV (Dutch employee insurance agency) requires a passport or identity card; other appointments may also accept a driving licence. A person accompanying you also needs valid identification. Confirm any extra application documents and digital-help availability with the office.
