Social welfare centres in Belgium, by city

Ask at the centre of the municipality where you live

Larger cities have several service points, spread over different neighbourhoods. Some want an online request first, others hold drop-in sessions on set days, and a few hand out numbered tickets that can run out early. Find your city to see how its centre works before you head there.

CPAS de Tournai — Service social général

Rue de la Citadelle 118, 7500 Tournai

First-time applicants can see a social worker without an appointment on weekday mornings.

For an integration-income request following loss of unemployment benefits, you typically need identity and bank cards, household-resource evidence, the ONEM (national employment office) exclusion letter and payment-body certificate, last amounts received, an updated CV, FOREM registration or a medical incapacity certificate, and job-search evidence. Confirm which documents apply to your case. The social worker may request more evidence and a home visit forms part of the investigation. Keep the request receipt. If you are affected by unemployment exclusion, apply from the end of your entitlement; no advance approval is given before that date.

  • Tournai

District de Kain – guichet Population

Rue Raoul Van Spitael 33, Kain, 7540 Tournai

Meet a social worker on Wednesday mornings in Kain, but first-time applicants still start at the central reception.

Ask your worker which case-specific papers to bring and explain any existing request. If this is your first Tournai CPAS (public social welfare centre) application, use central reception at Rue de la Citadelle 118, Monday–Friday 08:30–11:00 without an appointment; first-request information is +32 69 88 45 28. The Gaurain CPAS session is currently suspended at its district building during works and takes place centrally on Wednesday 08:30–11:30 instead.
