Offices that issue PESEL numbers to non-residents in Poland

Some take bookings, some use queue tickets, many ask you to phone first

The request goes to the residents’ register desk of a commune or city office. At the desk you may have to quote the law that requires a PESEL, and whether a representative can go in your place depends on the office.

Take a walk-in queue ticket or reserve online, and make sure you choose the PESEL queue.

Bring the hand-signed paper application, valid identity/travel document and evidence supporting the personal data and actual legal basis. Article 18 permits filing at any municipal authority; you are not limited to the municipality where your employer is based or to Warsaw. Confirm representation eligibility for your status. Missing required data must be corrected within the notified seven-day period. Applications are processed on an ongoing basis; same-day allocation is not guaranteed.
