Offices that exchange foreign driving licences in Poland

Pick the city or county office for your home address

Licence exchange is handled by the transport department of a city office, a county office or, in Warsaw, a district office, and the right one is the office for where you live. Some offices start with a document check before anything else, and the exam rules depend on the licence you hold. Prepare supporting papers such as a photocopy of the licence and your residence document.

A valid EU, EEA or Swiss licence stays recognised while it lasts, so check first whether you need to exchange it at all.

Prepare the application, current 35 × 45 mm photo, identity and lawful-stay documents as applicable, both-side copy of the foreign licence and evidence requested for residence. A sworn Polish translation or Polish-consular translation is normally needed, with an exemption for the standard EU-format licence. The Polish document costs PLN 100; translations, examinations and tests are separate. Follow the fee sequence for your procedure. Foreign-authority verification can extend the waiting time substantially; do not book travel on the assumption of a guaranteed 30-day completion.
