Offices that take your departure report in Belgium

Go to the municipality where you are registered now

The report is made where you currently live, so the right office depends on your Belgian address. Towns handle it differently: a walk-in counter, an emailed form, an online request or a phone call first. Foreign residents hand in their residence card as part of it.

Submit the form in the week before you leave, online or at an appointment, and ask what happens to your card.

For a counter visit, the city requires your foreign residence card and one recent passport photograph. Have your departure details ready and ask the foreign-residents team about any residence-document or return formalities specific to your status.

    Burgerzaken

Come to the counter if you can, so your eID is updated on the spot, or use the online form instead.

Prepare the planned departure date and destination address, and have your eID and PIN available for the chip update. Keep model 8 for consular registration. Notify your health insurer and relevant benefit, pension, banking and insurance organisations as appropriate.
