Employment offices that assess unemployment benefit in Poland

Phone ahead to learn which desk handles your file

Benefit questions go to the benefits team of the county employment office. Offices organise claims differently: the desk or caseworker who looks after yours depends on the office, and you should be ready to show proof of past work and insurance, including time worked abroad.

Call the benefits contact for your entitlement decision, and a separate payments contact for payment documents.

Prepare employment certificates showing how work ended and relevant earnings, contribution or credited-period evidence. Explain any work abroad. Supply a payment-account number when requested: benefits awarded under the rules introduced in June 2025 are paid to an account.

Hand in the certificate from the foreign agency paying your benefit, and ask whether you can send it electronically.

Keep PD U2 and its specified dates, foreign benefit decision and identity details ready. Register as a jobseeker with the local PUP (county labour office) within seven days from the date you ceased to be available to the former country’s employment service, following the dates and deadline on PD U2; do not count simply from arrival or your travel date. Then present U2 to the competent WUP. Do not wait for a WUP visit before registering with PUP. Before departure the process normally requires four weeks registered with the foreign employment service; confirm individual conditions with the paying institution.
