Offices for residence permit applications and renewals in Belgium

Your municipality’s foreigners’ desk is where the paperwork begins

Residence cards and permit renewals are dealt with at the foreigners’ desk of the municipality where you live. Offices differ in how they take first contact and which groups they serve, such as students, permit holders and EU citizens. Some assign every appointment themselves after you phone, and some close parts of the week.

Renewal is for foreign residents living in Mons for over five years, so ask the city whether your card qualifies.

Bring the old residence card or a valid police loss/theft certificate and a compliant photo no older than six months. Confirm the fee for the actual card type. Ordinary card production takes 10–15 days; that time does not cover an immigration decision. Bring the new PIN letter for collection and collect within 90 days to avoid destruction and a new paid order.
