A BIS request does not replace the separate short-stay residence notification. For that notification and its deadline, check the section for your nationality: EU citizens and their family members have separate instructions from third-country nationals. For employment-related identification, your current or future employer can request your NISS through belgianIDpro. A BIS number is created by a municipality, employer or competent authority as part of an administrative case; you cannot apply for one on your own.
