Prepare identification and the valid original national licence; provisional and international licences cannot be exchanged. Ask whether a Belgian sworn translation is required. If your nationality differs from the issuing country, the federal guide requires proof of at least 185 days there in the issue year, covering the issue date; embassy attestations are not accepted for that proof. For a non-EU/EEA licence, the city also checks that it was issued during a period of at least 185 days when you were not registered in Belgium; later-added categories cannot be validated through that exchange.
